ABOUT Research

Nanomaterials Development with a view of “Single Molecules”

Today, the quantity and quality of the information we handle are rapidly changing with the spread of IoT and the rapid development of AI technology, and the importance of sustainability is increasing day by day. Nanomaterials are used in the fields of electronic materials and medicine due to their breakthrough functions and high energy conversion efficiency, and are expected to play an even more active role in the future.

Our laboratory aims to contribute to the development of new nanomaterials by taking the approach of “focusing on single molecules, the smallest unit that creates materials. We are challenging to elucidate the mechanism of functionality of nanomaterials by developing original methods and to develop devices that take advantage of the properties of molecules. The method of identifying and analyzing single molecules is expected to be applied to highly sensitive chemical sensors, and elements using molecules are expected to be applied to new electronic devices. In the future, we aim to contribute to the development of personalized drug discovery and the realization of edge computing.
